Mid-Autumn Festival: Ancient Moon Worship & Reunion

With a history exceeding 3,000 years, the Mid-Autumn Festival dates back to the Shang and Zhou dynasties, when emperors worshipped the autumn full moon to give thanks for the season's bountiful harvest. Celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, it coincides with the moon at its brightest and roundest. In Chinese culture, a circle symbolizes completeness and unity, making the festival a cherished time for family gatherings, moon gazing, lighting vibrant lanterns, and sharing traditional mooncakes.
